Gnusto is a audiobook manager and player focused on audiobook (m4b) files. It provides fast import, reliable chapter-aware playback, and robust progress tracking, all stored on-device. Designed for privacy and offline use, Gnusto keeps your library under your control with simple backup and restore options for your entire library.

Use Gnusto to import m4b files from device storage, organize them by author and genre and play with smooth seeking, restartable sleep timers, and variable speed. No external server is required to run the app.

Gnusto is designed to respect your privacy and keep your listening data under your control.

What Gnusto Stores

Library metadata needed for browsing and playback.
Listening state such as progress, chapter context, and playback preferences.
Bookmarks, user settings, tags, and custom playlists.
Downloaded audio files and related local indexes when you choose to save content on device.
Offload state: metadata and listening progress are retained when audio files are removed from device for space optimization.
Diagnostic logs used for troubleshooting and reliability improvements.

How Data Is Used

To provide core functionality such as playback, resume, filtering, and organization.
To support optional backups and exports you initiate (for example, exporting library metadata or creating a backup file to iCloud or local storage).
To support optional diagnostics and log export features you trigger.

Local Storage & Backups

Gnusto is designed to work entirely on-device. You can back up or export your library, settings, bookmarks, and progress to iCloud or to files you manage yourself. The app supports offloading audio to save device space while preserving metadata and listening state so you can restore or re-download audio later. The app does not require or assume any external server to operate.

Data Sharing

Gnusto does not sell personal data. Any data transfer is limited to the services and destinations you explicitly configure, such as cloud backups or exported files.

User Control

You can choose local-only usage at any time.
You can remove downloaded content from the device.
You can export activity logs when needed for support.

Security Notes

You are responsible for securing any cloud accounts, backup locations, or exported files you use with Gnusto (for example, iCloud, file shares, or library backups).
You are also responsible for securing any activity logs you generate and share, as logs may include library-specific data.
